Mechanology
The scientific study of the hidden mechanisms that generate human behavior.
What does mechanology study?
Every discipline has an object of study.
Biology studies living organisms.
Geology studies the Earth.
Astronomy studies the universe.
Mechanology studies the hidden machinery that produces human behavior.
Rather than asking whether behavior is rational, irrational, good, bad, healthy, or unhealthy, Mechanology asks a different question:
What configuration of the Overreaction Machine would naturally produce this behavior?
The Overreaction Machine
This is the hidden machine every person carries around. It takes in what's happening, imagines what could happen next, decides which future matters most, and turns that into behavior. Everyone has the same machine, but not the same settings. That's why two people can see the same event and walk away believing, feeling, or doing completely different things.
